The journey towards your vocation can take many different paths. Here are some steps to get you started.

The Journey

Daily Prayer

Discern in community

Prayer is essential in discerning your vocation because it creates a sacred space for honest reflection and deep listening to God’s call. Through prayer, you open your heart to clarity and guidance beyond your own understanding, allowing the Holy Spirit to illuminate your path amid uncertainty. It anchors your discernment process in faith, helping you to distinguish between fleeting desires and authentic vocation. By cultivating a consistent prayer life, you build the courage and wisdom needed to embrace your unique mission boldly and purposefully.

Here are some suggestions for a daily prayer routine:

Morning Offering
Begin your day by offering all your thoughts, words, and actions to God. Example: “O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart.”

  • Morning Prayer
Recite the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. Include a personal intention or a Scripture reading for inspiration.

  • Midday Prayer
Pause around noon for a brief moment of prayer. You can say a short Angelus or a Psalm, asking for strength and guidance for the rest of your day.

  • Angelus (Traditionally at 6 AM, Noon, and 6 PM if possible)
Pray the Angelus devotion, commemorating the Incarnation and honoring Mary.

  • Examination of Conscience (Evening)
Review your day in light of God’s presence. Identify where you did well and where you need forgiveness or improvement.

  • Night Prayer / Compline
Conclude with Night Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours or a simple prayer of gratitude and entrusting yourself to God’s protection through the night.

Other recommended practices

  • Daily Mass: If possible, attend daily Mass.

  • Reconciliation: Receive the sacrament of reconciliation regularly (once a month is typically recommended)

  • Lectio Divina: Spend 10 minutes reading and meditating on Scripture.

  • Devotions: Include personal devotions like the Sacred Heart, Immaculate Heart, or novenas relevant to your spiritual growth.

Consistency matters more than length.

Even a short, sincere daily routine builds a strong relationship with God and deepens your faith
